Traveling north on 441 entering the state of North Carolina you will pass through the city of Franklin that is about 20 miles from the Georgia state line. Whitewater rafting adventure trips down the Nantahala River as well as a visit to Wayah Bald where years ago a manned US Forestry lookout tower was used to locate any forest fires are great day trips that can be enjoyed in Franklin. Every Saturday evening from spring time through fall, downtown Franklin’s Gazebo has scheduled entertainment for residents and visitors. Across the street from the Gazebo the Clock Tower is admired by those who pass by as it chimes the time of day echoing the street of what is known as Town Hill. In addition to the many unique shops, great dining and precious historical heritage from the Cherokee Indians, Franklin is a quaint city that remains a treasure to remember and preserve.
